James Goode

Partner Solicitor

James was born in Devon.  He graduated from King’s College, University of London, with First-class Honours (Leathes Prize 2005) and was elected an Associate of King’s College.  He worked in the publishing industry for several years and commenced his professional studies in London before returning to Devon to complete his training contract with a well-known Exeter firm.  He qualified as a solicitor in 2013 and joined the Devon and Somerset Law Society under Paul Dyson’s term of office as the Society’s president.

James specialises in leasehold enfranchisement and advises in relation to both statutory claims and informal negotiations for a new lease.  He frequently makes protective applications to the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) and has appeared before the County Court in a successful claim to acquire a freehold estate subject to a missing intermediate landlord and where title to the unregistered reversion could not be deduced.   He acts for individuals and corporate clients on discrete matters and portfolio acquisitions or disposals.

James was invited to join the Scott Richards Partnership in April 2024.
